Visual Storytelling
Designed a non-linear narrative zine about a complicated concept: memory.
Challenge
Translate "Invisible Cities: Cities & Memory 4 - Zora" into a visual zine that communicates narrative without text. Using imagery, sequencing, and symbolic cues, explore how meaning can be constructed through interaction, using principles of semiotics to guide how viewers interpret and navigate the story.
Goals
Explore principles of semiotics and iconography
Translate complicated concepts into visual formats
Develop a non-linear narrative structure
Create a hand-crafted zine
Research
Zora exists between permanence and the evolving nature of memory. Memory is neither permanent nor linear.
Through research, cyanotypes emerged as a way to reinforce this idea, as their gradual fading mirrors the impermanence of memory. With some digital image testing

Print Production
Due to the limitations of large-format fine art paper, double-sided printing risked misalignment. To address this, each side was printed separately and carefully hand-aligned to ensure accurate folding and sequencing.
